SHOPPING - DOWNTOWN NISSWA

About Us

Hi! I'm Amy, or Mrs. North Root. I'm the shop creator. North Root came out of a hobby that became bigger than me. It is currently my 'jobby'. I've got two littles at home that keep me busy most days. Other days I am getting full of sawdust (my glitter) or acting shop-keep. The shop is also a space for other local artists to showcase their talents. All our items are locally crafted and often usable, affordable art. A little something for everyone.
Wife, mom, chaos coordinator, shop-keep, maker...just a few of my accolades. As my kiddos grow, I am finding more and more time to create and get behind the counter. If you find yourself at our shop and we're closed, I am happy to accommodate - don't hesitate to contact me via social media.
If you've been following from the beginning, you've been given the rare gift of watching the shop grow (and me). We are still SO small...but over the years, I have been learning by way of baptism by fire. I recently undertook a DIY remodel < is there any other way >. From lathe and plaster to a reclaimed wood wall. I am a HUGE fan of repurposing. And I am constantly bringing in new products. Every day is a new day.
When the shop first opened, half of the space was set for instructor-led DIY classes. Since then I've adjusted for more retail space. I have plans to bring back classes so be sure to follow us >>> outdoor classes this summer! Find a schedule on FB or Instagram - - - or request a private class.
Thank you for supporting our small business!

This is one of the first pictures that I took after we moved in and painted/updated the exterior - when we were the only ones in the building (Spring 2018)

Here's my full-time gig. Wife, mom, chaos coordinator, shop-keep, maker...just a few of my accolades. As my kiddos grow, I am finding more and more time to create and get behind the counter. If you've been following from the beginning, you've been given the rare gift of watching the shop grow. We are still (so) small...but over the years, I have been learning by way of baptism by fire. Here is an updated shop view (5.2022) after I undertook a DIY remodel < there is no other way, in my book >. From lathe and plaster to a reclaimed wood wall. I am a HUGE fan of repurposing. And I am constantly bringing in new products. Every day is a new day.
A closer view of 'the wall' and a smattering of our vendors works. I love when multiple sources and styles come together to create a cohesive image.
